Mastering Genshin Impact’s Amber: A Comprehensive Guide

Look out, world! Genshin Impact’s Amber, the only remaining Outrider of the Knights of Favonius, is the top glider in Teyvat. Ever optimistic and free-spirited, she’s the first character you meet right at the start of your adventure, who shows you around Mondstadt and gets you your glider. She’s also a free four-star unit you can use in combat.

If you need some more primogems to acquire a new character, check out our Genshin Impact codes page. Our Genshin Impact next banner guide lets you know who’s up in the next Genshin Impact update to spend those all-important primogems on.

Here’s everything in our Genshin Impact Amber guide:

What’s the best Genshin Impact Amber build?

Genshin Impact’s Amber is a four-star character that uses a bow and the pyro element.

Best weaponAmos Bow
Weapon substitutesStringless, Prototype Crescent
Best artifact setNoblesse Oblige
Main stats-Sands – Attack
-Goblet – Pyro damage bonus
-Circlet – Crit rate/damage
Sub statsAttack, crit rate, crit damage

While Amber may not be the strongest or ‘most-meta’ pyro DPS in Genshin, she can be a flexible and helpful unit, especially at higher constellations – though you may need to grab them from the store, as Amber never gets a rate-up on any banner.

If you stack up her attack and crit stats and equip her with a set of Noblesse Oblige artifacts and a Stringless or Amos Bow, you’ll get reliable damage out of her, especially from her deployable taunt bunny that can provide some all-important off-field pyro.

If you want to use Amber as a DPS, you can pair her with the likes of Bennett to boost her attack, and a hydro unit like Barbara or Furina to help pop off plenty of vape reactions.

How do I use Amber?

Many players underestimate Amber, considering she’s a starter character. However, she certainly has her uses and with a little TLC, can provide some great damage and utility. Her kit is quite simple, but playing her well relies on quick reflexes and long-term thinking.

It’s best to use Amber as a sub-DPS. Her Baron Bunny acts as a taunt and draws enemies’ attention, so you can swap to your main DPS and deal damage to them while they’re not looking. Amber’s burst provides AoE pyro damage, so you can use this to pop off reactions.

Oh, by the way, Amber is really useful for a lot of overworld puzzles, especially in Mondstadt, where you must shoot targets with the pyro element.

What are the best weapons for Amber?

The best weapon for Amber depends on the team comp you’re pairing her with. In general, the Amos Bow is a great choice for Amber due to its significant damage increase. The Elegy for the End is great for a more support or reaction-focused build due to its high energy recharge and the elemental mastery it provides through its skill.

When it comes to four-star options, Stringless is a great option for buffing her elemental mastery for reactions, and her skill and burst damage. Prototype Crescent is also a decent backup option if you’re struggling to pull the others, offering a nice attack buff, though its skill can be tricky to activate.

If you’re using Amber and you’re early on in the game, any three-star bows with attack or crit stats will tide you over well, especially if you can refine them when pulling copies.
