Fontaine’s magician, Genshin Impact’s Lyney, is a spectacle when unleashing flourishing pyro attacks at the drop of a hat. We first saw him in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline trailer alongside his sister Lynette in 2020; now he’s in the game. Lyney wields a bow with the pyro element – when not entertaining crowds. Lyney is a celebrated magician in the court of Fontaine, who puts on live shows as a duo with Lynette.

What’s the best Genshin Impact Lyney build?
Lyney is a five-star character that uses a bow and the pyro element and is a DPS.
Best weapon | The First Great Magic |
Weapon substitutes | Aqua Simulacra, Scion of the Blazing Sun |
Best artifact set | Marechaussee Hunter |
Main stats | Sands – Attack Goblet – Pyro damage bonus Circlet – Crit rate/damage |
Sub stats | Crit rate, crit damage, attack |
As an on-field DPS, Lyney is all about pyro application and charged shots. He excels in a mono-pyro or swirl team with an anemo grouper like Kazuha or Sucrose. You can get some excellent numbers out of him as you level him up – Lyney has some of the highest scaling for charged attack and pyro characters. The more pyro characters are in your team, the better he does, as well.
The best build for Lyney involves his signature weapon, The First Great Magic, and a set of Marechaussee Hunter artifacts with plenty of attack and crit stats. Don’t forget a pyro damage-boosting artifact, too, to get some extra fiery goodness out of the magic man.
What are the best weapons for Lyney?
Lyney excels with a high crit rate, especially crit damage. If you can, focus on this as a main stat. If not, any attack or energy recharge-boosting bows won’t go amiss.
The First Great Magic | Stat: Crit damage increase Skill: Lyney’s attack increases by 12%. For every party member with the pyro element, Lyney gains one Gimmick stack. For every party member with a different element, Lyney gains a Theatrics stack. When Lyney has one, two, or three Gimmick stacks, his attack increases by 8/16/40%. Song of Stillness | Stat: Increases attack Skill: When Lyney is healed, he deals 16% more damage for 8 seconds. This triggers even if he is not on the field | Forged |

To get the best out of your magical man, you want a full set of Marechausee Hunter. This set adds a lot to his normal and charged attack damage, along with a hefty crit rate boost. If you don’t have this to hand, then you can mix and match some two-piece sets including any attack-boosting artifacts and Crimson Witch of Flames.
